Keokuk woman faces charges after drugs, weapon found in Missouri traffic stop

A traffic stop in northeast Missouri has led to the arrest of a southeast Iowa woman.

Just after 10 p.m. Thursday, a Palmyra police officer pulled over a vehicle on U.S. Highway 61 for a lane violation.

During the stop, the officer saw indications of possible illegal activity.

During a search of the vehicle, a loaded firearm and approximately 47 ounces of suspected narcotics, including methamphetamine, were found.

The driver, Karen S. Hoadley, 56, of Keokuk, was taken into custody without incident.

She was charged with:

  • Unlawful use of a weapon
  • 2nd-degree drug trafficking
  • Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Driving while suspended/revoked
  • Failure to maintain the right half of the roadway

Hoadley is currently being held in the Marion County jail.
